The first doctoral recital of Markus Yli-Jokipii at the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki offers new perspectives on Finnish choral music of the 2020s.

The concert features Mikko Heiniö’s Concerto for Guitar and Chamber Choir and Janne Salmenkangas’s Rauhan rukous (Prayer for Peace), which brings together the Finnish and Sámi languages. The program also includes the world premiere of Lauri Mäntysaari’s Olet, olisit, olisit ollut (You Are, You Would Be, You Would Have Been), set to a text by Henriikka Tavi, as well as transcriptions of works by Laura Netzel and Jean Sibelius-

Joining Tampere Cappella are two outstanding soloists: guitarist Patrik Kleemola and cellist Liina-Mari Raivola.
